Chris Lyons was put on this earth to do 3 things: Illustration, teach at a great design school, and play basketball. He does 2 of those things really well.
Actually Lindgren & Smith thinks he probably does all 3 things well!!!
A former agency Creative Director, Chris Lyons saw the light and jumped into the world of freelance illustration at the turn of the century (the most recent one). His current clients include Pentagram, The Wall Street Journal, The USPS, The New York Times, Time Magazine, GE, LA Magazine, Lufthansa, McCann Erickson, Target, Road & Track, Consumer Reports, The USTA, Conde Nast, and many book covers for Penguin and Random House.
After graduating from the University of Buffalo, Chris gained his first professional experience as an intern for the famed graphic designer and illustrator Milton Glaser in New York City. Time spent there opened his eyes to what was possible as a creative person.
Creating vector Illustrations for advertising, editorial and business is what he loves. Concepts brought to life through style and a genuine love for his craft.
His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators LA, Print, Graphis and 3×3 to name a few.
When he’s not drawing, he’s an avid gardener, bicyclist and a pass-first point guard at his beloved 7:00 am daily basketball game.
To stay sharp and challenged and connected to this wonderful millennial generation of creative talent he teaches in the Schools of Graphic Design and Industrial Design at RIT.
