Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada 1961. Attended the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary 1980-84. Entered college to experience a more academic environment. There the arbitrary divisions of Art and Graphics were introduced with much sacred cow fanfare. Later attending graduate school in New York the extremes of the Good and Bad were introduced. Masters Degree from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, 1984-86. Arriving after years of professional experience as an illustrator to a "style" of work best described as; Brutal Sign Painting, Comic Book Social Realism, and or Specific Generics. Today he is working and living in Victoria, British Columbia with Linda, his wife. Doug is currently working in a graphic brush(ink & computer), along with digital vector based approach (Adobe Illustrator), as well as painting with alkyds on canvas, or paper.
